Homologously Collapsing Stellar Cores

چکیده
We investigate the collapse of nonrotating gas sp~eres with a polytropic.equ~tion of state.: n = 3, corresponding toy = 4/3. Such polytropes provide~ re~sonable approximatiOn t<? collapsmg stellar cores during the early phase before nuclear density IS reached. W~ find a.famtl~ of ~xact homologously collapsing configurations. Homologous collapse of the enti~e core Is possib~e If the pressure at a given density is reduced by up to 3 '7o from the value for a margmally stable static c~re. For a greater pressure reduction, an inner core can collapse homologou~ly, the mass o~ which varies as the 3/2 power of the reduced pressure at the onset of collapse. Lmear perturbat~ons of these homologously collapsing solutions are separable in space and time. Low order radial and nonradial modes are calculated, and it is found that all modes are essentially stable. Subject headings: stars: collapsed stars: interiors stars: supernovae

Perturbation Analysis of a General Polytropic Homologously Collapsing Stellar Core
For dyanmic background models of Goldreich & Weber and Lou & Cao, we examine three-dimensional perturbation properties of oscillations and instabilities in a general polytropic homologously collapsing stellar core of a relativistically hot medium with a polytropic index γ = 4/3. Perturbation behaviours, especially internal gravity g−modes, depend on the variation of specific entropy in the coll...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF COSMIONS ON THE STABILITY OF MAIN SEQUENCE STELLAR CORES
We have studied the effect of hypothetical Cosmions on the core stability of main sequence stars (of populations I and II). Cosmions, with a mass of 4-10 Gev/c2 and a scattering cross section with nucleons of approximately 10-36 cm2 could prevail in transporting heat in the stellar cores. Raby [17] showed the existence of a local thermal instability caused by the presence of Cosmions in the sol...
متن کاملRadiation Feedback and Fragmentation in Massive Protostellar Cores
Star formation generally proceeds inside-out, with overdense regions inside protostellar cores collapsing rapidly and progressively less dense regions following later. Consequently, a small protostar will form early in the evolution of a core, and collapsing material will fall to the protostellar surface and radiate away its gravitational potential energy. The resulting accretion luminosity wil...
متن کاملThe Stellar Imf as a Property of Turbulence
We propose to interpret the stellar IMF as a property of the turbulence in the star–forming gas. Gravitationally unstable density enhancements in the turbulent flow collapse and form stars. Their mass distribution can be derived analytically from the power spectrum of the turbulent flow and the isothermal shock jump conditions in the magnetized gas. For a power spectrum index β = 1.74, consiste...
متن کاملFrom Infall to Rotation around Young Stars: The Origin of Protoplanetary Disks
The origin of disks surrounding young stars has direct implications for our understanding of the formation of planetary systems. In the interstellar clouds from which star form, angular momentum is regulated by magnetic fields, preventing the spin up of contracting cores. When ∼ 0.03 pc-sized dense cores decouple from the magnetic field and collapse dynamically, ∼ 10 km s pc of specific angular...
